Primarily, I review the following genres:
- Literary Fiction
- Historical Fiction
- Biographies relating to Literature, women’s lives, political figures, anyone genuinely fascinating
I will also read the following if I am intrigued enough by the blurb, or I have previously read and reviewed something else by the author:
- Romantic Fiction
- Dystopian Fiction
- Travel Writing
I do not review the following genres:
- Erotic Fiction
- Science Fiction (unless you are the next Terry Pratchett)
Reviewing is a hobby and therefore inevitably sometimes has to be side-lined when real life demands are greater. I meet all blog-tour deadlines, come hell or high water, but other books are read as soon as I can possibly manage. I prefer actual books to ebooks, given the choice.
I don’t offer a rating because I can see myself getting tied up in knots. I am in awe of anyone who is able to write a book – I doubt I could – but, based on the principle of ‘if you can’t say anything nice…’, I will contact authors/publishers/blog tour organisers in good time if I realise that I am not the right reviewer for the book, or I cannot find anything positive at all to say about it.
My ‘An Interview with …’ series of chats with authors is a platform for writers to talk about their work. I will not have necessarily read their books. These posts are essentially about the act of writing itself (and we sometimes discuss wine gums).
